Better Together, a newly reconfigured organization founded by women from a variety of area churches, is hosting its first gathering on May 11.
Fifty years ago, a group of women from various denominations created Christian Women's Brunch, and until last December, they met monthly for fellowship and encouragement from a variety of speakers and musicians.
That original group of dedicated women are no longer able, so other participants have come aboard to carry on the mission. The group is now called, Better Together, as it represents the need for women to have support, encouragement, friendship and caring from other women. The mission statement says, Better Together exists "to inspire, equip, support and help women to live in God's purpose."
The gatherings are open to all women and will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Salvation Army building on Quincy Street in Hancock. Dr. Suzanne (Jukuri) Sanregret will be the featured speaker. Bakery, fruit, coffee and tea will be served on May 11. The cost is $8.
