The Copper Harbor Trails Fest hosted hundreds of participants in various mountain bike races and a trail running race this weekend.

Nearly 300 riders competed in Enduro races between the three distance options.

Saturday afternoon’s downhill bike race had riders testing their limits down “Overflow,” one of the most famous trails in the Midwest.

Sunday morning started with the trail running race which brought around 70 participants to a technical 7 mile course.

The Enduro race started mid-morning which brought 333 racers to compete in the expert, sport or beginner classes. The expert class raced 6 different downhill stages across Copper Harbor’s trail system and required pedaling between the stages. Enduro races only include the times on the downhill sections.

The festival was hosted primarily out of Donny Kilpela Memorial Park in Copper Harbor. They kept visitors entertained after races with food, beverages and live music. Most racers and spectators stayed in local campgrounds but many Michigan Tech students drove up to Copper Harbor for the day.
