Two-vehicle crash injures one in Portage Township
PORTAGE TOWNSHIP — A Chassell man was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Portage Township Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred on Broemer Road at Paradise Road around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The 79-year-old man was towing his boat to storage when he lost control of his vehicle after failing to observe the stop sign at the intersection, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
Crossing Paradise Road, he was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Ironwood man.
The Chassell man sustained minor injuries and was taken to UP Health System – Portage for treatment.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Hurontown Fire and Rescue, Michigan Technological University Police, Michigan State Police, Superior Service and Mercy EMS.
