Teen driver killed in M-28 crash

McMILLAN TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old female was killed in a two-vehicle crash in McMillan Township, Ontonagon County, Thursday night.

At about 8:35 p.m., Ontonagon County Sheriff deputies and the troopers from Michigan State Police, Wakefield Post, responded to the report of a crash on M-28 east of Ewen.

Upon arrival, police learned a semi, driven by a 42-year-old male, collided head-on with a passenger vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female. She was treated by SONCO ambulance personnel, but died on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Her name has not been released. The semi driver was not injured in the crash.

Undersheriff Charles Pantti said MSP Wakefield Post is in charge of the investigation, which is predicted to take two to three weeks to conclude.

Also responding to the scene were DNR Conservation Officers, the Ontonagon County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Bruce Crossing and Ewen Fire Departments, the Ontonagon County Road Commission, Al‚Äôs Auto Towing and Superior Services Towing.
