3 injured in Adams Twp. crash

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Three people were injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Adams Township, including two drivers who had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on M-26 near Erickson Drive, when a vehicle traveling northbound on M-26 collided with a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, was entrapped in the vehicle. She and her 17-year-old passenger were transported to U.P. Health System – Portage for treatment. Also entrapped in their vehicle was the 26-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle, who was also taken to the hospital.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Houghton Police Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan State Police.

Also working with law enforcement were the Adams and Stanton Township First Responders, Mercy EMS, Adams Township and Hurontown fire departments, and several other community members.

The crash is still under investigation.
