Hancock Planning Commission reschedules meeting to Wednesday

HANCOCK — The Hancock Planning Commission rescheduled its March meeting to Wednesday due to not having enough members at Monday’s meeting.

Wednesday’s agenda includes the draft of the city’s master plan update, which could potentially be approved and sent on to the city council. Other items include approval of the six-year capital improvement plan and extending the zoning approval by six months for a project at 306 Hancock St.

The rescheduled meeting will begin at 5 p.m., an hour earlier than usual.

With no quorum, the remaining members and City Manager Mary Babcock discussed potential changes they wanted to see made to the draft.

Suggestions included revising the plan to add specific goals relating to addressing climate change and revising the page on Winter Cities to get rid of an excessive emphasis on the negatives of winter.

Babcock said making substantive changes to the plan would require it to be republished for another public hearing at the planning commission level. Corrections and narrative updates can be made, she said.

Babcock said the city plans to consider updates to the plan annually.
