UMWC customers experiencing cloudy water

According to a recent press release from the Upper Michigan Water Company, many customers in Calumet, Laurium and areas near Mohawk are reporting cloudy water.

UMWC explained the cloudy water is a result of a leak that brought air into the water system. The company claims they’ve located the leak and are currently flushing hydrants to release the air and fix the issue. The water company says the issue is isolated.

Customers were told that samples taken from the system where cloudy water was reported is free of bacteria and contaminants.

There is no water boil advisory at this time, as the system’s pressure was not lost. UWMC says the cloudy water is still safe for consumption.

Starting at $3.50/week.
