Bulldogs updated about coming school year
A Friday email from Hancock Superintendent Chris Salani, provides information for returning students and parents driving their children to and from school.
Starting Tuesday, the district is is moving to a new schedule.
“For our Elementary students, our beginning of the day will start at 8:05 a.m., with the end of the day being 3:05 p.m.,” Salani said. “For our HS/MS students, the beginning of the day will be at 8:25 a.m. for the first bell, with classes beginning at 8:30 a.m.; then our end of the day bell will ring at 3:20 p.m. “
There are also changes to traffic flows into and out of parking lots at the campuses.
“We have a new entry drive into the Barkell parking / drop off area,” Salani said. “This means that the traditional entry/exit drive is restricted to exiting only, thus making our car and bus flow entirely a “one-way operation.”
The new entry to Barkell is further south on Elevation St. (between Liberty and Prospect St.), and will be two lanes entering the parking – drop off areas.
To note – the right lane will be restricted to our busing lane for dropping off students in the morning and picking up students after school. The left lane will be for parent-student drop off / pick up, where parents can turn into our new parking area to park and walk their students into/from the building; or for students who walk themselves into the building, parents can continue in the left lane to the front of the building where students can be dropped off quickly in the walk through lane in front of the main entry to the building.
At the High School Middle School, HS / MS Parking Lot – with the new construction, there is also added a new exit to the HS/MS parking lot flowing north to Tomasi Dr. During morning drop off times and afternoon pick up times (as well as after school extracurricular events), all vehicle traffic in the parking lot will need to flow in the one-way lane nearest the building and exiting out toward our new north drive to Tomasi Dr. During the daytime outside of our drop off, pick up, and extracurricular times, students, parents and visitors may enter and exit from Campus Dr. This new flow of operations is to ensure safety and security for our students and constituency entering/exiting the parking lot during these heavily congested time frames.
