Arrests made for sex crimes
STEPHENSON — Two Upper Peninsula men were arrested in connection with separate investigations in Marquette and Menominee counties. At 10 a.m. Thursday, coordinated service team detectives and deputies in the Menominee County community of Stephenson took a man into custody for alleged sex crimes.
This arrest is part of an investigation started in Daggett Township in 2025. After reviewing the investigation, the Menominee County Prosecutor’s Office issued warrants that led to the arrest.
Jamil Gomez-Castro, 30, of Stephenson was arraigned in 95A District Court on Friday on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree. Gomez-Castro remains in custody at the Menominee County Jail on a $25,000 cash/surety bond.

Also last week a Marquette County man was arrested and charged with multiple felony counts following an investigation into the allegation of sexual exploitation of a minor. According to a press release from the Forsyth Township Police Department, the investigative agency, Jeremy Norman Brugman, 35, of Gwinn, was arrested and taken into custody without incident on a warrant authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. He faces two counts of child sexually abusive activity; three counts of using a computer to commit a crime; one count of distributing sexually explicit material to a minor child; and one count of aggravated indecent exposure.
Brugman was arraigned in the 96th District Court in Marquette on Friday. The Forsyth police were assisted in the investigation by the Northern Lights Child Advocacy Center.
