HOUGHTON — The Houghton City Council meets in regular session today at the City Center in downtown Houghton. Prior to the start of the meeting, the Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing to discuss a sign request variance for the installation of an electronic message board sign at UP State Bank at 902 College Ave.
Following the public hearing, the Board will hold a regular meeting to act on the request.
The Council meeting will follow the Zoning Board of Appeals action. There is a relatively light agenda with the only business in front of the Council is appointment to the Portage Lake District Library Board. The City has received two applicants for one open position on the Library Board.
There will be two opportunities for the public to address the council, one at the beginning of the meeting and the other prior to adjournment.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City Center.
