City Of Houghton special joint meeting today

HOUGHTON — A special joint meeting of the Houghton City Council, Planning Commission, and Downtown Development Authority will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at the Lakeshore Center, 600 E Lakeshore Drive, Houghton. On the agenda there will be reports from the Branding Committee, the City Council, and on the Upcoming City Budget. There will also be two opportunities for the public to address the council.

Teacher scholarships

HOUGHTON –The Gamma Alpha chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a local sorority of women educators from Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties, is offering scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

These scholarships are available to:

• Teachers in Houghton, Baraga, and Keweenaw counties currently enrolled in a graduate program related to education

• High school graduates from Houghton, Baraga, or Keweenaw counties who are enrolled in a teacher preparation program and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study
