Stop Motion Animation Camp for Youth Ages 8-16

HANCOCK — A Stop-Motion Animation Camp with Ian Raymond for youth ages 8-16 will, take place over the next three Saturdays at the Copper Country Community Arts Center in Hancock. students will learn how to animate frame by frame and create short stop-motion clips. Using the material of the week, students will create their own objects to animate and bring them to life by using instructed stop-motion techniques. Each student will work individually or with others to create a short animation movie.

• Week 1: Animating paper

• Week 2: Animating clay

• Week 3: Animating toys

Camp is held on Saturdays, June 13, 20 and 27 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. All supplies are included and the instructor, Ian Raymond, will create a movie from the students’ work each week. Raymond worked making stop-motion television shows for 10 years. He currently teaches photography and other digital media courses at Michigan Tech.

Deadline to register is tomorrow (June 9). The fee for camp is $115. The Camp is supported by a grant from the Keweenaw Community Foundation.
