BARAGA - A woman from L’Anse was struck and killed by a vehicle in Baraga Monday night, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police (MSP).
According the release, troopers from MSP Calumet Post responded to the crash, which occurred on U.S. 41 near the Baraga Lakeside Inn.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by a 66-year-old man was traveling southwest on US-41 when a 50-year-old woman entered the roadway on foot. The driver was unable to avoid her, and she was struck.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was medically evaluated on site and released.
Police said both individuals are from L'Anse. The crash remains under investigation and no other details are available at this time.
