Lift Bridge maintenance Sept. 10
HOUGHTON – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will conduct routine scheduled maintenance on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge on Thursday, Sept. 10, requiring bridge lifts.
According to an MDOT press release, cable greasing is scheduled for early morning, requiring several bridge lifts of up to 30 minutes each. These lifts are scheduled to begin after 12:01 a.m. Sept. 10 and be completed by 6 a.m. Resulting closures will affect vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic. This schedule is weather-dependent and may be adjusted.
This work will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
