HOUGHTON -- The driver of the vehicle which allegedly struck and killed two motorcyclists on U.S. 41 in August has not been extended a plea offer yet, Houghton County Prosecutor Daniel Helmer told The Gazette.

45-year old Houghton resident Sze Wenn Tiang was traveling south on U.S. 41 when she attempted to evade a stopped vehicle turning left onto Golf Course Road in Osceola Township. Tiang moved over to the northbound lane, where two motorcyclists from South Carolina were struck and killed in a crash. She and her children were evaluated and released at the scene.

Tiang was charged with two counts of a moving violation causing death and one count of driving without a valid license. She was arraigned on August 18 and posted a $1,000 bond the same day.

Tiang's pre-trial was Monday. Helmer said she is meeting with her attorney, Marquette lawyer Sarah Henderson, to discuss options before her next pre-trial hearing in Judge Nicholas Daavettila's courtroom on Oct. 23.
