HOUGHTON -- The Keweenaw Peninsula is earning national recognition for its spectacular autumn scenery. Midwest Living has named the Keweenaw Michigan's best fall getaway in its Oct. 16 feature, "We Picked the Best Fall Getaway in Every Midwest State--Is Your Favorite Here?"
According to a press release from Visit Keweenaw, the recognition follows another major fall travel accolade from Travel + Leisure, which recently highlighted the Keweenaw among the Midwest's best fall destinations.
In its feature, Midwest Living praised the peninsula's abundant waterfalls, historic communities and scenic drives, highlighting Hungarian Falls, Brockway Mountain Drive, M-26 and Copper Harbor as standout experiences.
The recognition comes as the Keweenaw enjoys peak fall color, with vibrant scenery still awaiting visitors across the peninsula. While the season is progressing, travelers can expect beautiful autumn landscapes to linger in many areas, offering more opportunities for scenic drives, outdoor adventures and a peaceful fall escape.
"It’s wonderful to see the Keweenaw recognized not just once, but twice by respected travel publications like Midwest Living and Travel + Leisure," said Brad Barnett, executive director of Visit Keweenaw. "These recognitions reflect both the incredible destination we’re fortunate to represent and the storytelling we do to share it with the world. Our landscapes, communities and experiences give us extraordinary stories to tell, and it’s rewarding to see those stories resonate with national audiences."
