MDOT announced repairs on the Lift Bridge will begin today through Wednesday causing single lane closures at times.

HOUGHTON -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will perform repairs on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock beginning today (Oct. 19) through Wednesday (Oct. 21). The repairs will require single-lane closures on the bridge. Crews will be repairing non-structural damage to the bridge caused by high-load hits.
Motorists should expect single-lane closures of northbound M-26/US-41 each day until approximately 3 p.m.
MDOT Said these repairs will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
