Bergman announces Congressional App Challenge winners

ELK RAPIDS — Rep. Jack Bergman announced this year’s winner of the First District Congressional App Challenge for their app Space Hop. Every year, students in the First District create and submit their original apps for a chance to win the Congressional App Challenge (CAC). The winning teams app will be put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year.

This year’s winning app “Space Hop” combines many students shared interest of learning more about Space and our Solar System and playing video games.

The team noted, “We were inspired to create this app through a fusion of our desire to share our interests of space and get an opportunity to not only practice our game development skills, but also get a peek into what a career may look like in the field.”

Rep. Bergman stated, “First District students continue leading in innovation and creative inspiration. I’m proud to recognize the great work of Brett Bruner, Joshua Doctor, Shane Pilate, and Gabrielle Krakow as this year’s App Challenge winners. I’m continually impressed with the hard work that so many across the District put into this challenge, and I congratulate the winners and the Elk Rapids High School for this impressive work.”
