The artist reception for Finlandia University’s 2023 International School of Art & Design Faculty Exhibit has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 23. The event will coincide with Finlandia Art Night and will include the 2023 Faculty Exhibit, a reception and awards presentation for the Finlandia Student Juried Art Exhibit and a cardboard fashion show by Finlandia art and design students.

The 2023 faculty exhibit and cardboard fashion show will both take place at the Finlandia University Gallery in the Finnish American Heritage Center from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The student juried exhibit will occur at the Reflections Gallery on the second floor of the Jutila Center, 200 Michigan St. in Hancock, from 6 – 6:45 p.m.

Recent works by full-time, adjunct and emeritus faculty representing various media and concepts will be displayed at the faculty reception. Artists include Carrie Flaspohler, Phyllis Fredendall, Gini Gesler, Levi Grannis, Kenyon Hansen, Lindsey Heiden, Joyce Koskenmaki, Laura Smyth, and Denise Vandeville.

Ceramics, fiber art, digital art, sculptures, drawings and paintings are several of the media that will be represented in this exhibit. “This exhibit is a great opportunity to share and celebrate the talents of our faculty with the community and Finlandia students, faculty and staff,” said gallery director Carrie Flaspohler. “Their creative works are an inspiration, bringing insight, inquiry and poetry into our lives.”
