Nancy June Sonia (Savinen) Rajaniemi
FULTON – Nancy June Sonia (Savinen) Rajaniemi, 77, of Fulton passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Cypress Manor, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Nancy was born in Fulton, on June 27, 1937, a daughter to the late Paul and Hilma Savinen.
A lifelong area resident of Fulton, she attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High school in 1956. She worked at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being outdoors.
On May 18, 1957 she married her husband Leonard Rajaniemi, until he preceded her in death in 2013. Also, preceding her in death was her sister, Lola Gagnon; a sister, Rosalee “Mimi” Savinen; a grandson, Uriah Sutinen; a great granddaughter, Isabella; and son-in-law, Steven Spelich.
She is survived by her brother, David (Barbara) Savinen of Gay Mohawk Road; three sons, James Rajaniemi of Calumet, Eric Rajaniemi of Fulton Location, Daniel (Patricia Gray) Rajaniemi of Calumet; four daughters, Rebecca Spelich of Seneca Location, Denice (Paul) Meneguzzo of Calumet, Joni (Bill) Geiger of Calumet, Melissa (Bruce) Sutinen of Laurium; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Rajaniemi Linck, Julie (Brad) Heikkinen, Josh (Jessie) Spelich, Stephanie (Steve) Pintar, Christina Meneguzzo, Amanda Meneguzzo, Melissa Meneguzzo, Nancy (Justin) Riopelle, Isaiah Sutinen and Zebulon Rajaniemi; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family services will be held.
