He was born on December 8, 1963, in Racine, Wisconsin, a son of the Evelyn (Bizzy) Humes and the late John Humes. Mike was raised in Algonac, Michigan, and was a graduate of the Algonac High School with the class of 1982.

On July 6, 1991, he was united in marriage to the former Ann Kasperowicz. The couple raised two daughters and have resided in Houghton since 1999.

Mr. Humes had worked as a mechanical designer until attending Michigan Technological University to receive a Mechanical Engineering Degree. He then had worked in various part of the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. Since 2007, he has been employed with Upper Peninsula Engineers and Architect’s as a mechanical engineer.

Mike loved music and was a huge Detroit Lions, Red Wings and Tigers fan. He also enjoyed working out, staying in shape and the many friendships he made at the gym. His greatest joy was spending time with his girls.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Surviving are his love, Ann Humes of Houghton; his daughters: Emily Humes of Houghton, Anna Humes of Houghton; their canine companion, Pudgy; his Mother: Evelyn Humes of Bellville, Michigan; his siblings, Craig (JoAnne) Humes of Lake Dallas, Texas, John (Mary) Hume of Oxford, Michigan, Pat (Renee) Humes of Azalia, Michigan, William (Wendy) Humes of Perry, Michigan, and Martha (Sue) Humes of Portland, Oregon; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A prayer service for Michael will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with Fr. John Martignon to lead. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later time.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 3 p.m. until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell.
