John F. Gunnari

LAURIUM – John F. Gunnari, 82, a resident of Laurium, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at UP Health System-Marquette.

He was born on July 2, 1934, to Hubert and Alice (Delongchamp) Gunnari in Mohawk. John attended the local schools.

John served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was a jack of all trades. He loved woodworking. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a big sports fan and his favorite teams were the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. He spent a lot of time on the computer, playing games and looking up different items to purchase.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 61 in Calumet.

On May 7, 1960, he married Jean Kumpula in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Jean; his sister, Shirley Paskvan; and his son, Dennis.

He is survived by his sons, David Gunnari of Laurium and Darren Gunnari of Laurium, three grandchildren, Darrien (Brouilette) Englund of Little Shoot, Wisconsin, Jordan Spagnotti of Hancock, Leon Gunnari Fish; one great-grandchild, Kerian Dylan Mispagel of Little Shoot, Wisconsin; best friend and cousins, Tom Bastion and Jack Sprietzer , both of Mohawk; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Eagle Harbor.
