Pauline J. Heinonen

HANCOCK – Pauline J. Heinonen, 91, a resident of Hancock, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a resident for the past two months.

She was born on February 14, 1925, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Oscar and Ina (Woupio) Nordstrom. Pauline was a graduate of the Hancock High School.

On November 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Peter Heinonen and on June 16, 1991, he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Heinonen was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.

Preceding her in death was her husband; her parents; three brothers; and five sisters.

Surviving are her children, Karen (Bruce) Stonelake of Cokato, June (David) Storm of Hancock, Joanne (Tom) Cosellian of Howell, Douglas (Kristiin) Heinonen of Hancock, Richard (Judy) Heinonen of Hancock, Gordon (Susan) Heinonen of Hancock, John Heinonen of Hancock, Steven (Kara) Heinonen of Liminga; 38 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins and her sisters-in-law, Ina Norstrom, Ruth Maki and Lana Heinonen.

Funeral service for Pauline will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with David Taivalkoski to officiate.

Spring burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday, January 30, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

The Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes of Hancock have been assisting the family with the arrangements.
