Allen P. Olson

FULTON — Allen P. Olson, 55, a resident of Fulton passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2018.

He was born on March 24, 1962, in Hancock to Carl and Ethel (Huuki) Olson.

He attended Jeffers High School and graduated with the Class of 1980.

Following high school, he began working for Michigan Technological University as a custodian and eventually moving his way up to the position as a building attendant, which he retired from after 35 years in March of 2017.

Allen was a jack-of-all-trades. If you needed something fixed, he knew how to fix it.

He was a registered basketball official for many years.

Allen loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In the summertime you could find him and his family camping or spending time in Jacobsville.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and his loved ones.

On August 4, 1984, he married Christine Lahti in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Fulton.

He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Fulton.

His maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, Carl and Ethel Olson; his brothers, Carl and Keith; and his sister, Debbie; precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Christine of Mohawk; his sons, Gregory of Middleville, Aaron, Daniel, David and Thomas of Mohawk; his daughters, Jill (Lanny) of Menahga, Minnesota, Janelle (Hans) of Menahga, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Macie, Keegan, Brielle, Kaisa, Bridget, Chase, Kirby, Anna, Kaarina, Vernon, Abby, Rita and Rodney; his siblings, Cheryl (Gary) Helminen of Laurium, William (Rachel) Olson of Saline, Karen (Ben) Malec of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Bonnie (Matt) Puro of Bemidji, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Paula Olson of Hurontown, Paula (Curtis) Lahikainen of Chassell, Corrine Leppen of Laurium; brother-in-law, Tim Ovist of South Range; aunts, Joan (Art) Lasanen of Calumet, Sandra (Ron) Raatikka of Atlantic Mine, Elma White of Ishpeming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Fulton with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
