David James Gregorich

BIG PINEY, Wyo. — David James Gregorich, (Porkchop) (Pippo) passed away May 23, 2019, after a long recovery from a ranch accident in 2011.

He was born on November 30, 1949, to Eleanor and Joseph Gregorich in Laurium. David lived the majority of his life in Big Piney, Wyoming, and worked as a ranch hand for the Mickelson Circle Cattle Company.

A true cowboy at heart, he spent his life riding horses, feeding cattle and elk, repairing miles and miles of fence and called a “Bunk House” home. It was a simple, but fulfilling life. In 2011, a ranch accident ended his career and after some recovery moved to assisted living in Marinette, Wisconsin, to be closer to family.

David never married or had children, but he found a second family in the Mickelson’s. They treated him as one of their own.

David is survived by four brothers, Donald (Jackie) of Royal Oak, Joe (Kay) of Franklin, Wisconsin; Greg (Betty) of Menominee, and Mark of London, Kentucky; and one sister, Mary Sapino of Escanaba; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and the ranch owners, the Mickelson’s.

A special, private family gathering to remember David is scheduled in Eagle Harbor on July 19, 2019.

Special thanks to brother “Geggy” for looking after his everyday needs all the staff at the Renaissance Assisted Living Facility where David spend his last seven years.
