Margaret P. Rothenberger

DODGVILLE — Margaret P. Rothenberger, 63, a resident of Dodgeville, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the UP Health – Portage Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born on October 16, 1955, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Wallace and Donna (Loonsfoot) Kinnunen. Margaret was raised in Chassell and was a graduate of the Chassell High School with the Class of 1974. She then attended Suomi College.

In 1976, she was united in marriage to Michael Harsh. The couple moved to the Marquette area, where Margaret was a clerical worker for Marquette General Hospital. In 1986, they moved to make their home in Tamarack City. In 1992, Margaret was united in marriage to Brian Rothenberger. The couple had resided in Donken and Liminga.

On May 30, 2014, Brian preceded her in death.

While residing in the Copper Country, Margaret worked as a secretary for Michigan Technological University, retiring in 2016. Margaret enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, watching soap operas, The Price is Right and trips to the casino. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.

Surviving are her children, Kyle Harsh of Hancock, Christopher Harsh of Hubbell, Jason (Jodie) Harsh of Houghton, Paden (Amber) Rothenberger of South Range; her step-children, Shanna (Frank) Cherubini of Chassell, Travis (Jennifer) Rothenberger of L’Anse, Niles Rothenberger of Liminga; her grandchildren, Annalie, Lacy, Amy, Aubrey and Jaxson; and numerous step-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth (Kim) Badke of Chassell, Wallace (Kim) Kinnunen of Calumet, Russell (Jamie) Kinnunen of Baraga, Joyce (Kevin) Ongie of Houghton, Michael (Michelle) Kinnunen of Chassell, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Margaret will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Houghton, with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Houghton.
