Robert James Fredrickson

GRAND RAPIDS — Robert J. Fredrickson, 66, died after illness complications on July 8, 2019, in Grand Rapids.

Bob, known to many affectionately as Rob, lived for several years in South Range, until a life altering motor vehicle accident in 2014. He resided at Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation and ADA house for the last five years, close to his family.

Rob was the son of the late Robert Fredrickson and Leah Fredrickson Schultze. His loving family includes Mark and Cheryl Fredrickson, Benjamin R. Fredrickson, Kayle and Todd LaVictoire, and Jenna and Pablo Prieto.

Rob dearly loved living in the “Copper Country” and always hoped that he could move back. He was happiest when fishing in the Portage Lake or visiting with his beloved relatives in Ripley over a cup of coffee. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed family gatherings.

Life, for Bob, had many challenges. He accepted life for what it was, choosing to live in simplicity, gratitude and hope. He exemplified a spirit of SISU, persevering always, through his trials. He had an abiding faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior and now rests in HIS eternal presence. Rob left the world a better place and his kindness lives on in those touched by his life.

His family wants to sincerely thank Copper Country Mental Health and the ACT team for being his guardian angels. You cared for him with tender compassion and love. We will be always be grateful.

A graveside internment will be held 11:30 a.m., on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
