Gloria Jane Hansen

PAINESDALE — Gloria Jane Hansen, 83, longtime resident of Painesdale, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Omega House in Houghton on November 23, 2019.

She was born on September 23, 1936, a daughter of George and Dorothy Raw. She worked at home, raising her children. She also worked at the South Range VFW and was a day-care provider for many years until her retirement. Although they were no longer together, she had been married to Joseph George Hansen, the father of her children.

Gloria liked to sit down with her cup of coffee, pack of cigarettes, and the TV remote. She also enjoyed rummage sales and BINGO, but most of all, spending time with all of her lady friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, George Hansen; daughter-in-law, Ginger Hansen; a grandson, Christopher; and four-legged companions; Lady and Peanut.

She is survived by four children, Bill (Carmen) Hansen of Alston, Michael (Brenda) Husby of Lewisville, Texas, JoLeen (Sam) Jenkins of Atlantic Mine, David (Casie) Hansen of Painesdale; grandchildren, Bill, Nichole, Joe, A.J., Randalle, Jeremy, Mickey, Matthew, Isaac, Bradley, Emma, Kelsey, Samantha, D.J., Tyler, Jeff, Jerri; along with 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, cousins, and her four-legged companion, Tootsie.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, at the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, with Rev. Chuck Bylkas to officiate. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the start of the funeral on Wednesday. Spring burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
