Dan ‘Shadow’ Johnson
CALUMET — Dan “Shadow” Johnson, 83, a resident of Calumet passed away on Sunday March 15, 2020 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
He was born on December 5, 1936 in Laurium to George and Impie (Ruotanen) Johnson. He attended the Calumet Schools before moving to Highland Park, where he graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955.
Dan worked for Vickers, Volkswagon, and Granters Marine as a Parts Manager. He then worked for Dan Riutta Contracting and started Johnson Painting.
In the summers you could find him playing softball or horseshoes.
On July14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Carol Aho.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Impie Johnson, his brothers Earl, Robert, David, and Phillip, two sons Thomas and Hans, and his great granddaughter Ina Anderson.
He is survived by his wife Carol; sons: Keith (Kathryn) of Laurium, Ken (Teresa) of Calumet, Kevin of Calumet, Rodney (Maria) of Laurium, Glenn (Kim) of Laurium; daughters: Renee Frantti of Calumet, Brenda (Vincent) Niemela of Calumet, Danita (Phil) Sturos of Bootjack; his brothers: Paul (Judy) Johnson of Detroit, Michael (Judy) Johnson of Cokato, MN., and Mark Johnson of Detroit; 49 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Wednesday March 18, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday March 18, 2020 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet with David Taivalkoski to officiate.
