Eva A. ‘Eve’ Mouilso

ALPENA — Eva A. “Eve” Mouilso, 90, of Alpena, Michigan, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 27, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.

Eva was born April 10, 1930, in Toivola, a daughter of the late Evert and Aina (Lantto) Toro, and graduated from Hancock Central High School. She moved to Detroit for employment and attended night classes at Schoolcraft College. She graduated in 1974.

On August 2, 1952, she married William E. Mouilso. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2002.

Eve was employed by Great Lakes Colleges Association for 24 years, retiring in 1988 as the Administrative Officer. She was a very active member of National Secretaries Association (NSA) in Livonia, and also as co-chair of the Michigan Division Annual meeting. She was selected Secretary of the Year for Michigan Division in 1968. As a member of the NSA, she was a Certified Professional Secretary, an achievement in which she took great pride.

Eve and Bill made their home in Presque Isle in 1988. She became a Master Gardener and was active in numerous organizations including Ford T-Bird Ski Club, Friends of the Library Board of Review, Presque Isle Harbor Association, and Jesse Besser Museum Founders and Garden Club. She served as docent at the Presque Isle 1905 Lighthouse Keepers House.

Eve was also preceded in death by two brothers, Toivo and Don.

She is survived by friends and family in the United States and in Finland.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at the Toivola Cemetery.
