Judith M. Maki

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Judith Minetta Maki, 79, of Negaunee Township, entered eternal life on Monday, June 15, 2020, at home, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born January 1, 1941, in Houghton, a daughter of Rudolph and Gertrude (Koistala) Daavettila, Judy was raised in Houghton and graduated from Houghton High School with the Class of 1959. She was employed as a teller at the Houghton National Bank prior to her marriage to Eugene Maki on December 15, 1962. The couple moved to White Pine for a short time before relocating to Negaunee in 1974, where they raised three children.

Judy was a member of Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church, loved playing the piano and was a talented baker.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Maki; three children, Diane (Karl) Kytta of Marquette, Julie Peterson of Negaunee, and Jim (Tara) Maki of Marshfield, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Allyson (Zach) Radue of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Madison Kytta of Marquette, Preston, Holden, and Norah Peterson all of Negaunee, Adam and Lauren Maki of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Arryn (David) Hansen of Byron Center, and Matthew (Laura) Chambers of Lansing; a great-grandchild, Kinsley Mae Radue of Mosinee, Wisconsin; two sisters, Trudy (the late James) Richards of Indiana and Jana (Glen) Chambers of Allendale; numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Richard and William Daavettila.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church on Friday, June 19, beginning at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Interment will be made in the Negaunee Cemetery.
