Lori Ann Nicklas

She was born July 26, 1965 in L’Anse, daughter of Paul and Phyllis (Ellenich) Maki. Lori graduated from Baraga High School in 1983.

She married Scott Nicklas on December 19, 1987 at Most Holy Name of Jesus church in Assinins. Lori worked as a bartender at the Side Track Bar, and as a clerk at Wilkinson General Store, Larry’s Market, Schroeder’s, and the last 14 years for Gamble’s Do It Best.

Lori was a member of St. Ann’s church, and the Baraga Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She loved animals and was a NASCAR and Green Bay Packers fan. Lori enjoyed Jeep Rides, camping, gatherings at Camp Stole, going to concerts, and spending time with her grand kids who called her “Mema”.

Surviving are her husband, Scott Nicklas of Baraga; children, Jeremy (Mindy) Nicklas of Greenfield, Wisconsin, Laura (Tim Crossett) Nicklas of Northfield Falls, Vermont, Kirstin (John) Varline of Marquette; siblings, Paul (Dawn) Maki of Baraga, Sandra (Lance) Forcia of L’Anse, Patti Maki of Peyton, Colorado, Vicki (Paul) Mayfield of Carrollton, Texas, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Maki of Baraga; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Logan, Charlotte, Alyauna, Gracelyn, Kennady, Kohen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents; grandson, Toby Scott; and her canines, Dixie and Smokey.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home and on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. with Deacon John Cadeau officiating.

A luncheon will follow at the American Legion in Baraga, hosted by the Baraga Fire Department and Auxiliary. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery.
