Vernon Bell Watwood Jr.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Vernon Bell Watwood Jr. (Pap) died suddenly in Tucson, Arizona, on June 4, 2020. He taught Civil Engineering and was chairman of the department for a number of years at Michigan Tech University from 1973 to 1999.
He was born in Opelika, Alabama, in 1935. After graduating from Auburn University he was in the Navy and continued his education at Cornell University and the University of Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia; children, Jim, Yvonne, and Teresa (John); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Trish, Yvonne and Teresa attended a private prayer service held June 13, 2020 at the Christ Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona, with the family on Zoom.
