Ronald P. Adams

MARQUETTE — Ronald P. Adams, 88, of Marquette, joined his beloved wife, Barb early Thursday morning, September 24, 2020, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living.

Ron was born on June 18, 1932, in Laurium, Michigan, an only child of the late Peter and Josephine (Locatelli) Adams. He was a graduate of Calumet High School where he lettered in basketball and Michigan Tech University where he received a degree in civil engineering.

Ron was an owner and partner of LaBonte and Adams Builders for many years as well as the Closner Construction Company. During his working years, he formerly sat on the board of directors at Bay Cliff Health Camp, the board of Associated General Contractors, Marquette County Economic Development Corporation, past trustee of a joint apprenticeship and training committee for the Carpenter’s local union. He also served on the Diocese of Marquette Building and Grounds Committee as well as a board member and trustee of numerous other organizations. Ron was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Marquette Builder’s Exchange.

In his free time, Ron enjoyed many special moments at the family camp on Lake Independence especially playing Bocce Ball. Relatives and friends were always welcome there. He will be dearly missed by his family and anyone who knew him.

He is survived by five children, Carrie (Jeff) Magowan, Brad (Becky) Adams, Mary (Karl) Hill, Amy Rantanen, and Tracy (Jim) Klumb, all of Marquette; five grandchildren, Taylor Adams, Trevor Adams, Jamie Rantanen, Jack Rantanen, and Jordyn Klumb; four great grandchildren, Avelyn Adams, Nova Glenn, Camille Adams, and Zyan Adams. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Barbara Adams on June 26, 2020, and a daughter, Lynn Marie Adams.

Ron’s family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, September 28th beginning at 4 p.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 6 p.m. with Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Entombment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Rantanen, Trevor Adams, Jack Rantanen, James Klumb, and Jeff Magowan. A special thank you goes out to U.P. Home Health and Hospice and the staff at Brookridge Heights.
