William James Geiger
CALUMET — William “Bill” Geiger, 66, of Calumet, passed away on October 28, 2020, at his home in the comforting care of his family after a 12-year long battle with multiple cancers.
Bill was born on July 14, 1954, at the Calumet Public Hospital, to James and Lois Geiger.
He attended local schools, graduating in 1972. He then enlisted in the military, serving with the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era. He returned home to work until his health forced him to retire.
Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, hunting with his daughter, Nancy, hiking, rock picking, gardening and doing small wood-working projects.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, James Geiger.
He is survived by his wife, Joni; his daughter, Nancy (Justin) Riopelle; and his grandson, Marcus, who he lovingly called “my little buddy.” He is also survived by his mother, Lois Geiger of Calumet; his brother, Scott (Angela) Geiger of Pleasant Lake; brother-in-laws, Jim, Eric and Dan (Patty) Rajaniemi; and sister-in-laws, Becky Spelich, Denise (Paul) Meneguzzo and Lisa (Bruce) Sutinen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He also leaves behind his loving and faithful dog, “Sofi.”
Burial will take place in the spring of 2021. The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet is assisting the family.
