William L. ‘Ozzie’ Klein

LAKE LINDEN — William L. “Ozzie” Klein, 77, of Lake Linden, passed away at UP Health System-Marquette on October 18, 2020, after a short illness.

He was born on August 19, 1943, a son of Lawrence and Mary Francis (Amos) Klein.

He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1961. He joined a group of classmates and enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school. Later he returned to the area, starting as a plumber for Michigan Tech, and he would eventually become a foreman in Facilities Management. He also returned to the Navy Sea Bees in 1980 and retired in 2003 as a Master Chief E-9.

Ozzie served as a Schoolcraft Township Trustee and was active in local politics. He was a sports enthusiast, following all his children and grandchildren. He had been an assistant troop leader for the local Boy Scout Troop that produced numerous Eagle Scouts.

He was married to Janet Ricca on January 11, 1964, in Lake Linden.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, a grandson-Kenneth Klein, Jr., sister-Cynthia Klein, and a brother-in-law-Dave Koski.

He is survived by: his wife-Janet; four sons-Michael L. (Ami) Klein, Kenneth L. (Lynn) Klein, David L. Klein, and William L. Klein; grandchildren-Kendra, Kolton, Konrad, Lucas, Lincoln, Kami, Mackenzie, Aidan, and William “Ozzie” Klein; a brother-Robert (June) Klein; sister-Carolyn Koski; along with several nieces and nephews.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no public services. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
