James M. Isola

ISHPEMING — James M. “Jim” Isola, age 76, of 250 S. Lilac St., Ishpeming, passed away surrounded by his children on Monday, February 22, 2021, at the Trillium House in Marquette, while in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.

James was born in Laurium, on May 28, 1944, a son of the late Marvin and Bernice (James) Isola. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.

Jim worked for Cleveland Cliffs for 30 years, retiring as a plant repairman from the Empire Mine.

Jim was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Ishpeming, where he volunteered at funeral luncheons, and a member of the Knight of Columbus-Council 1541. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Julie (Douglas) Kytola of Ishpeming, a son, James (Dana) Isola of Hasting, Michigan, 4 grandchildren: Jamie Isola (Josh), Kassandra Kytola, James (Marisa) Isola, and Victoria Isola, 2 great grandchildren: Amelia Isola, James Isola, a brother Roger (Mary) Isola of Bootjack, three sisters: Karen (Bruce) Rovano of Hubbell, Carol (Robert) graham of Plymouth, Michigan, Susan (Bruce) Harter of Calumet, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Pebbles.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra (Butler) Isola, a son Randolph, a daughter Lori, and brother Jackie Isola.

Honoring Jim’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
