Kaye Ann Kotila

HANCOCK — Kaye Ann Kotila, 65, a resident of Hancock and former Dollar Bay resident, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, while visiting her son in L’Anse following a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 8, 1955, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret (Chopp) Kotila. Kaye was raised in the Hancock area and attended the Hancock School and Suomi College.

Ms. Kotila began a career working as a certified nurse’s aide at Cypress Manor Nursing Home before moving to the Houghton County Medical Care Facility from where she retired two years ago from.

Kaye enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping trips with her sister and trips to the casino.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Gill, Glen and infant brother, Phillip.

Surviving are her children, Erica Kopp, Dustin Doll, Breanne Townsend, Dave Townsend, Daniel Townsend, Billy Autio and Tommy Autio; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; her sisters and brother, Evelyn Stewart, Diane Greenlees and Gary Kotila; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service for Kaye will be held later this year at the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
