Carole Faye Miller
NEWTOWN LOCATION — Carole Faye (Kemppainen) Miller, 84, passed away at home on July 24, 2021. She was born on August 7, 1936, in Hancock to Viljo and Ida (Kotila) Kemppainen and was raised in Newtown by her Finnish-immigrant grandparents.
She attended the Pewabic school until 1952 when she moved with her aunt to Detroit and graduated from Commerce High School in 1954.
Later that year she married Edward Miller of Hurontown. Together they raised their four children in Royal Oak, making the trip to Copper Country every summer.
Carole wasan active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak, enjoyed solving difficult crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller retired from William Beaumont Hospital after 22 years and recently returned to Hancock to be near family.
She is survived by her four children: Tom (Joyce) of Newton Location, Ken (Jodi) of Houghton, Sharon of Frost, Texas, and Susan of Detroit. Five grandchildren: Adam, Nicholas, Alex, Annie and Ryan along with a great-granddaughter, Anna.
She was predeceased by her parents, step-father Charles Ruuska, husband, Edward in 1998, a grandson, Douglass, and infant sister, Alice.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
