Daniel John Timonen

Oct 16, 1955 -Aug 18, 2021

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Daniel John Timonen was born to Reino L. Timonen and Dorothy Emilia (Herrala) Timonen on Oct. 16, 1955. He went to be with the Lord on Aug. 18, 2021, from complications with COVID pneumonia in Fairbanks.

Daniel attended Doelle School in Tapiola “’til it closed” and finished up his schooling, graduating in 1974 from Houghton High School.

He went into the Army in 1974, and finished up in 1977.

His brother Mark had gone to Oregon in 1976, so after he got out of the Army he headed west to join him.

He met Kathryn A. Williams and they were married in November of 1978 in Hillsboro, Oregon.

He started his carpenter apprenticeship where he learned all about building and remodeling, one of his passions in life. He then became a USPS Postal Clerk, until his retirement in 2009. Daniel started an Ebay business after his retirement from 2009 till 2020, he sold antique saws, axes and logging tools.

Daniel loved to fish, travel, and remodel houses. Of all of Daniel’s passions though, the most important to him was knowing the Lord personally. It wasn’t in the sense of some religious rite, but as a reality of his life. What a comfort, absent from the body, and present with the Lord.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Reino L. Timonen.

He was survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons, Joshua (Maureen) R. Timonen; granddaughters, Matilda and Nina; grandson, Aaron (Brittany) T. Timonen, and Cyrus; his mother, Dorothy (John) Kiiskala; sisters, MaryAnn Harry, Susanna (Tim) Gaffin, and Rebekka (Rick) Kasprzak; brothers, Mark (Ruth) Timonen and Timothy (Karen) Timonen; one aunt, Ruth Canales, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date with interment to be decided.
