Karl Julian Wilmers

PEORIA, Ariz. — Karl Julian Wilmers, 89, of Peoria passed away August 28, 2021.

He was born in Calumet on January 13, 1932, to Walter and Hulda (Hammary) Wilmers.

A graduate of Calumet High School, he joined the USAF in 1963, and was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, where he met his future wife, Dolores Irene (Wichman) Wilmers.

After a tour in Korea, he and Dolores were married in Topeka, where they settled after his honorable discharge.

They had three children, Darrick (Janell), Lori (Mike), and Wesley (Tammy). Also surviving are grandchildren Misty, Nathan, Jacob, Courtney, Dalton, Taryn, and Connor; and great-grandchildren Zackary and Katelyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Karl was employed for 13 years by the U.S. Post Office, then by the State of Kansas, teaching computer programming, until his retirement.

He was member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Topeka for over 60 years, where he served as elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member.
