Marian Rossi

She was born on October 23, 1925, in Chassell to the late William and Alvina (Morin) Girard.

Following graduation from Chassell High School, she attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock for 1 1/2 years.

She married Joseph “Chinko” Rossi of Hancock. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2007.

Marian and her husband operated a restaurant in San Francisco, California, for about five years before returning to the Copper Country. They founded and operated the Ambassador Restaurant in Houghton until their retirement.

Marian was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. She enjoyed traveling, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was very important to her.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Oscar Nyman; two sisters, Janet and Betty; and a brother, William.

She is survived by three children, Marjorie Nyman of Arizona, Joseph (Mary) Rossi of Houghton, and David (Barbara) Rossi of Chassell; eight grandchildren, Lesley (Bruce) McLean, Christopher Nyman, Andrew (Michelle) Nyman, David (Cher) Nyman, William Rossi, Jodi Rossi, Zach Rossi, and Emily (Travis) Krauel; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Reverend Father John Martignon officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton.
