Marilyn Sieders

TAMARACK -- Marilyn Sieders, 79, a resident of Tamarack Waterworks Road passed away peacefully on Thursday September 2, 2021, at her home.

She was born on June 21, 1942, in Detroit to George and Mary (Wasity) Bjerk. She attended the local schools and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1960.

Following high school, Marilyn attended school at the Deaconess Hospital in Detroit where she received her degree as a registered nurse. Marilyn worked as a R.N. for many years and at several different facilities and retired in 2014 from Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.

On April 11, 1964, she was united in marriage to Charles Sieders at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Warren.

Marilyn loved nursing. She loved being on both sides of nursing, whether it was teaching childbirth classes or caring for newborns. She also loved taking care of elderly patients at nursing homes.

She also enjoyed collecting dolls.

After retiring from nursing, Marilyn became very involved with Faith Lutheran Church. She served on several committees within the church and helped out with singing in the choir and bringing goodies to all of the nursing home residents. She also served as treasurer of the CLK Council of Churches. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Bjerk, and her granddaughter Holly Jayne Sieders-Novak.

She is survived by her husband: Charles of Calumet; her children: Barbara (Ray) McLennan of Calumet, Laura Sieders of Calumet, Jonathan (Shirley Aguilar) Sieders of Plano, Texas; her granddaughter: Maritza Sieders; her sisters: Judith (Gary) Milarch of Rochester Hills, Sally Wolgast of Troy, Jane (Steve) Schmuhl of Hazel Park, Ellen (Jim Busch) Bjerk of Fraser; Her goddaughter and niece: Mary Seltzer Stempien of Clarkston, Michigan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 12 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery.

In lieu of expressions of sympathy, donations in Marilyn's name may be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, 26016 Depot Street, Calumet, Michigan 49913.
