Michelle Aimee Rivet

HANCOCK — Michelle Aimee Rivet, 56, passed away with friends at her side in Phoenix, Arizona.

Her greatest loves and losses were her two dogs, Moo and Boo.

She attended schools in Belleview, Washington, Scottsdale, Arizona and Natic, Massachusetts. She earned a masters degree from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.

She was a constant student and advocate for women’s rights. She was proud of her work with “Instruments of Peace” which she founded to support the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra from Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo and many other projects. She was a constant volunteer for organizations including 350.org, an environmental organization and the American Red Cross in the aftermath of 9/11.

She was preceded in death by her brother Gil Mark Rivet, her sister Jillian Barbara Rivet, her father Gilles Rivet and grandparents Herman “Winks” Gundlach and Barbara Gundlach.

She is survived by her mother Gretchen Gundlach of Houghton, her sister Julie Rivet, niece Hannah and three aunts Martha, Julie and Jan Gundlach.

Winks was the spirit guiding Michelle. Her grandmother was the spirit guiding him.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Michelle Aimee Rivet.

The Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes have been assisting the family with the arrangements.
