Kenneth Arne Oscar Huhtasaari

ASKEL — Kenneth Arne Oscar Huhtasaari, age 87, of Askel, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 10, 1934, in Elo, son of Arne and Anna (Heikkinen) Huhtasaari.

Kenneth attended the John A. Doelle School in Tapiola and then school in Detroit.

He married the former Eva Matsen on May 12, 1956, in Detroit.

Ken was in the U.S. Army from 1957-59.

He worked for Federal Mougl in Detroit for 19 years prior to moving to Askel in 1974 when he began working for Celotex Corp, retiring after 25 years.

Ken was a member of the Mission United Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed fishing, Detroit Red Wings hockey and following his grandson’s hockey, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death ard his parents; siblings, Clarence Huhtasaari and Shirley Kezel.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Eva Huhtasaari of Askel; children, Kerrie (Bud) Keranen of Elo, Kenneth (Bonnie) Huhtasaari of L’Anse, Karl (Young) Huhtasaari of Askel, Kim (Kirk) Beyer of Askel; brother, Michael (Phyllis) Huhtasaari of White Lake, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8, at 11 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home with Pastor David Hoskins officiating.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery with military rites at 12:15 p.m.

A luncheon will follow at the Mission United Luitheran Church in Pelkie,
