Lana Hughes

HANCOCK — Lana Hughes, 73, a resident of Hancock passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Canal View – Houghton County.

She was born on November 12, 1947, in Milwaukee to Alfred and Margaret (Hull) Limback.

She attended West Division High School and graduated with the class of 1965.

On July 3, 1965, she was united in marriage to James E. Hughes at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Lana worked in Milwaukee side by side with her husband, Jim at the two restaurants they owned. In 1978, she and Jim moved to Calumet where they opened Jim’s Pizza and retired in 2019.

She is preceded in death; by her parents, Alfred and Margaret Limback; her son, James (Joey) Hughes; her brother and sister in-law, Carl and Susan Limback Also preceding her in death; son in-law Kevin Kangas and nephew Timothy James Hughes.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Hughes of Hancock; her daughters, Shelly Hughes of Calumet and LeeAnn Kangas of Hancock; granddaughters, Andrea (Philip) Hainault of Mohawk, Aurora, Charlotte and Eleanor; nephew, Daniel (Jane) Limback of Milwaukee and their daughter Jamie Ann and several cousins; her dear friend, Diane Teddy of Laurium.

A visitation service will be held Monday, October 18, 2021, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
