Francine Anne Vasko
CRYSTAL FALLS — Francine Anne Vasko was welcomed into God’s kingdom on October 27, 2021, at the Marshfield Medical Center, Weston, Wisconsin, after a brief illness.
Francine was born on January 6, 1948, to Robert J. (USSAR) and Anne Kostuba of Berwyn, Illinois.
She attended local LaGrange schools and went on to the University of Illinois, where she met her future husband of 52 years, Kenneth Vasko.
Fran and her husband, Kenneth, relocated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where she made lifelong friends working at Escanaba’s “Daily Press” before giving up her career and becoming a “stay-at-home” mom to her adopted children, Jennifer and Jonathon
She took a very active role in their education and volunteered to assist with an art program at their school, and eventually took a position as an aide with the school system
Fran also took on the role of Troop Leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop as well as Team Mom for her son’s hockey teams. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Anne Kostuba, as well as her sister, Sandra Lee LeMaster.
Fran is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth; children, Jennifer Vasko, Niagara, Wisconsin, and Jonathan F. Vasko, Petoskey, Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Fran’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crystal Falls, to honor Fran’s Legacy of life.
