Joshua Jaymes Wood
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Joshua Jaymes Wood, 30, a resident of Phoenix, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, in Phoenix.
He was born on June 10, 1991, in Hancock, a son of Robert Wood and Virginia (Mendenhall) Cooper. Joshua was raised in Pahrump, Nevada, where he graduated from Pahrump Valley High School in 2009.
He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp.
Following the Marine Corp. Joshua continued his education, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, from Collins College.
Joshua had worked several jobs over the years in shipping/receiving for Walmart, graphic design for Dynic’s Corp but his love for animals led him to the Wildlife World Zoo Aquarium & Safari Park. This is where he thrived, caring for and learning about the different animals such as otters, monkeys, lemurs, birds and fish. The animal park also gave him the opportunity to receive his scuba diver certification and become a certified crocodile/alligator handler.
Josh loved the outdoors (no matter the season), camping, hiking, photography and road trips. He was very caring, loving and was willing to help in any way especially when it came to joking around.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather.
Surviving are: his father, Robert (Jennifer) Wood; his mother: Virginia (Ron) Cooper; his brother: Geremy (Danielle) Wood, his sisters; Ashley (Cory) William, Caitlyn Wood, Kaylee Wood, his step-sisters: Janie (Yogi) Brewington, Katie Sawyer, his grandfather: Charles Wood, his grandmother: Cynthia Djuric, his great grandmother: Virginia Mendenhall, his aunts: Brenda (Wayne) Daniel, Barb (Allen) Yeager, Tonie (Shelby) Ragland, Chantilee Mendenhall, his uncles: Frank Wood Daylon Judd, 12 neices and nephews who loved him dearly and several great aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers and loved ones.
A funeral service for Josh will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Pastor Alan Sunn to officiate.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
