Judith M. Haataja

FARGO, North Dakota — Judith M. Haataja, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by her loving children and husband.

Judith or Judy as most people called her, was born September 18, 1942, in Detroit. She attended Jeffers High School and Michigan Technological University, proudly earning honors in her nursing program and practicing as a registered nurse for almost 40 years.

She was united in holy matrimony to Louis G. Haataja on October 14, 1961. Their 60 year union was blessed with 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandkids.

As she was known to all her grandkids as grandma, she always loved big family gatherings and lots of good food and drink.

She also loved to travel, often between Texas and Michigan and as far away as Italy and Finland. Her love of animals was central to her life always enjoying her pets and supporting the humane society.

Judy is survived by husband, Louis Haataja; son, Alan Haataja Sr, son Greg Haataja; daughter, Carrie Kostyak and Carissa Fisher, sister, Marilyn Mitchell; brother, Kenneth Kostamo; grandchildren, Trey, Chelsea, Ethan, Cade, Madelaine, Tony, Christine, Grezalyn, Greg Jr., Felipe, Stephan, Alan Jr.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, Michigan.
