Travis F. Maxey
HOUGHTON — Travis F. Maxey, 52, a resident of Houghton passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at the UP Health System – Marquette hospital with his fiance Vicki Lindell by his side.
He was born on September 12, 1969, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a son of the late Wayne and Josephine (Miller) Maxey. Travis was raised in the Sheboygan area and attended North High School.
He was united in marriage to the former Tammy Stapleford. The couple moved to L’Anse where they owned and operated a Hot Tub Store and ran a pet store.
They moved to Hancock and Travis began a career working for the movie theaters. He was a projectionist and assistant manager of the Lode and Pic Theaters before becoming the manager of the Rogers Cinema at the Copper Country Mall. He then worked as the maintenance person for the Anthony Street Apartments in Hancock until his health issues forced an early retirement.
Travis enjoyed playing darts in the various leagues for many years with the Uphill 41 team and the Bleachers Team. Travis was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and often enjoyed inviting friends over for the game to watch and have a few beers.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers: Rusty and Gary and an infant sister Cindy Surviving are his fiance, Vicki Lindell of Houghton; son, Brandon Maxey of L’Anse; brother, Danny (Tammy) Maxey of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service for Travis will be held later this spring in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
